What Does Bonita Springs Require for a Seawall Permit?

The city's Dock & Shoreline permit application asks you to classify the job as an artificial canal or a natural water-body, which sends it down different review paths. It also requires:

• Construction drawings, sealed by an engineer or architect where the code calls for it
• A Notice of Commencement for work over $2,500
• A site plan showing riparian lines, setbacks, FEMA flood zones, and any Coastal Barrier Resources System areas
• State and/or federal approval or exemption letters before the permit closes

Many in-place repairs qualify for the state exemption in Fla. Stat. 403.813(1)(e), which covers restoring a wall at its old spot or within 18 inches waterward. We prepare the package and get those letters lined up.
