Do I Need a Permit From the Water Management District?

You may. The South Florida Water Management District requires Right of Way Occupancy Permits for permanent or temporary improvements on its rights of way, which it calls "Works of the District." Those include more than 2,300 miles of canals and levees, and the District lists docks and marinas among compatible uses.
