Sunny Isles Beach is a narrow city on a barrier island in northeast Miami-Dade County. The Atlantic runs along its east side and the Intracoastal Waterway along its west. It incorporated on June 16, 1997, and now has the 14th-tallest skyline in the United States, with Collins Avenue down the middle. Almost every building sits close to one water or the other.
